AARP awarded two of its 2019 Community Challenge grants to the cities of Bennington and Newport.

Each year the association provides these grants to nonprofits and government entities for projects that improve livability in their communities.

Bennington’s grant will fund its Stark Street Park project, including a new ADA accessible walking path that will connect to a larger network of hiking trails.

Newport’s grant will go toward its Prouty Beach Connector, which will link two segments of recreational trails. This will create a seven-mile waterfront trail connecting Newport with the Canadian border.
