Few things are as deeply woven into the fabric of our nation as Social Security. For over eight decades, this bedrock program has offered economic security and dignity to millions of retirees, people with disabilities, and surviving spouses and children. It is a sacred promise between the government and the American people who pay in and earn their Social Security over a lifetime of hard work.

AARP knows that you work hard and pay into Social Security, so it's only fair for you to expect to get the money you've earned. The new administration has reassured AARP that Social Security payments will be protected amid potentially sweeping changes in how the federal government operates.

With more than 915,000 Colorado residents who receive Social Security benefits, and an additional 92,000 people who receive spousal and survivor benefits, Social Security is an important piece of retirement for so many.

AARP will continue to fight for and advocate on the issues that matter most to older Americans. Read more at our story with our Senior Vice President of Government Affairs.
