Posted on 05/13/24

The Moorhead City Council awarded AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers from the Fargo-Moorhead area with the City of Moorhead’s MoorHeart Award.

Since 1968,  AARP Foundation Tax-Aide has provided free tax help to over 78 million taxpayers nationwide with a focus on older adults with low to moderate incomes. Tax-Aide volunteers are trained and IRS-certified every year to make sure they understand the latest changes and additions to the tax code.

In the Fargo-Moorhead area, 16 local volunteers provided free tax help to 1,272 people this past tax season. Of the returns filed, 71.7% were for taxpayers over age 60. Approximately 75% of the taxpayers received refunds.
