Missouri Legislative Session Begins:
The Missouri General Assembly kicked off its 101st Legislative Session this week.  While leadership in the Senate has remained largely unchanged, the House welcomed their new Speaker of the House, Representative Rob Vescovo (R-Jefferson County) and Majority Floor Leader Dean Plocher (R-St. Louis County).

This session will be dominated by Medicaid Expansion and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting recession.  While Missouri has been spared much of the economic hardship from the pandemic, our health care system has been stretched to nearly a breaking point.  Medicaid Expansion can help to reduce some of those stresses, but the fiscal impacts for the State will be greatly determined by decisions made by the General Assembly this year.

AARP Missouri will be focused on Medicaid Expansion, especially how it may impact older Missourians, Long Term Services and Supports, and Workplace Retirement Savings.  We will continue to keep you updated on what is happening throughout the session.
