Simplified Processes for a Seamless Voting Experience

AARP Michigan underscores the importance of voting in the upcoming presidential primary on February 27, 2024. Recognizing the pivotal role of every eligible citizen, Michigan lawmakers passed a series of election laws in 2023 to implement changes approved by voters in a 2022 ballot initiative. These changes expand options for voting in 2024 and include:

Absentee Voting: All registered voters can request a no-excuse absentee ballot and apply once for absentee ballots for future elections.

  • Greater availability of drop boxes and prepaid envelopes for the return of absentee ballots.
  • Military and overseas ballots must be postmarked by election day to be counted and must be received within six days following election day.
  • Early Voting: Available at local city or township clerk's offices at least nine days before the election.
  • Voting at the Polls: Polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.

AARP Michigan urges all eligible citizens to participate in shaping the democratic process. For additional information about these changes and the upcoming election, visit aarpmi.org/vote, and for voter information or to view your ballot, visit Michigan.gov/vote.
