Meet Ava, Our New Intern

Posted on 06/02/21

Hello Maine AARP Members!

My name is Ava Giaquinto, and I am thrilled to be introducing myself as the newest Communications and Advocacy Intern at AARP Maine. I was born and raised here in Maine where I spent my summers at camp on Sebago Lake and graduated as a proud Bulldog from Portland High School in 2019. I’m currently a rising junior at Villanova University majoring in Communications with a concentration in Law and Rhetoric.

Despite the necessary physical distance of this past year, as a young person I’ve never felt more closely connected to those in generations above me. Knowing my choices could directly impact my grandparents, my parents, and my neighbors has made me hyper aware of those relationships and how much there is to be gained from them.

With that in mind, I’m excited to combine my passions for policy, justice, and social media to further AARP’s goal of helping Mainers disrupt aging and live their best lives. If you have ideas about how I can best serve you with this goal, or even want to impart some wisdom as I start my career, I look forward to hearing from you at agiaquinto@aarp.org
