Meet AARP Colorado at the Indigenous Film & Arts Festival January 25

Look to the stars at this month’s screening of Living in Balance:  Anishinaabe Star Knowledge as part of the 22^nd Annual Indigenous Film & Arts Festival.

Shown at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science’s Gates Planetarium, this full-dome presentation will focus on Anishinaabe teachings regarding the stars, planets, seasons and how to live a good life, while respecting the lands, waters, animals and all forms of life.

The event is free to attend, and registration is not required. Attending Living in Balance does not grant free access to the rest of the museum.

AARP Colorado is an event sponsor and plans to attend to meet and learn along with the audience. Living in Balance was created to provide indigenous elementary and middle school students with a representation of their culture in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

“This opportunity celebrates Indigenous voices and traditions while creating intergenerational, grandparent–grandchild learning moments that strengthen community connections and promote lifelong brain health,” Jessica Krough, AARP Colorado director of outreach, said. “We look forward to seeing the community and taking in these important stories.”
