If you are struggling to pay your heating bill, you may be eligible for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which pays part of certain Bay State residents’ winter heating bills.
Homeowners and renters, including those whose cost of heat is included in their rent, can apply. Eligibility is based on household size and the gross annual income of household members 18 and older. Household income cannot exceed 60 percent of the estimated state median income.
First-time applicants must apply in person at the fuel assistance agency in their area.
After the first year, you can reapply with the form mailed to you or online at toapply.org/MassLIHEAP. Applications for winter heating aid will be accepted through April 30, 2023.
