Make Your Voice Heard by Volunteering as an AARP Iowa Advocate

Posted on 05/31/20

AARP Iowa is seeking volunteers in all 50 state Senate and 100 House districts to advocate for older Iowans on important topics such as caregiving, prescription drug costs and health care.

Whether it’s attending a virtual meeting or legislative forum with local representatives, writing a letter to the editor, or telling a personal story about high prescription drug costs, members can participate in many ways. Previous experience is not necessary, and training is provided.

Volunteers are also needed for Iowa’s four congressional districts, to focus attention on federal issues such as Social Security, Medicare and high drug costs. Training is ongoing. Those interested in getting involved can email ia@aarp.org.
