Make a Difference with AARP – Volunteer Locally with Us!

You have a passion for making a difference in your community. If you’re looking for a place to share it, AARP Pennsylvania can help! Through education, advocacy and service, AARP volunteers and staff work together to enhance the quality of life for people of all ages. Whether it is behind the scenes supporting the daily work of AARP or leading advocacy and education in your community, AARP offers a wide range of quality volunteer opportunities. Opportunities for both in-person and virtual volunteering are available! Opportunities include:

• Advocacy Volunteer – Passionate about issues that impact older adults? Be a voice for the 50+ and their families in Western PA! Serve as an AARP advocate on key issues of national importance with your federal and state legislators and work with your local city/county officials to improve affordable housing, public spaces, and transportation in your community.
• Community Educator – share resources with local community groups on issues that matter to older adults. Topics might include: caregiving, fraud education, social security, and more.
• Event Support Volunteer – Provide administrative and technical support for AARP’s fun and educational virtual events. Lend your technical skills, provide virtual moderation for our Zoom events, or help us organize supplies!
• Volunteer Trainer – Lead recruitment sessions and assist with onboarding and training of local AARP volunteers.
• Phone Outreach Volunteer – Conduct phone-based outreach to promote vaccine education and combat isolation among older adults in Western PA through our HubDialer outreach platform.
• Join Our Veterans Team! – Passionate about Veterans issues? Join the Western PA Veterans team to help connect local Veterans, Military, and their families with important resources.
