The Maine Department of Health and Human Services is hosting a series of public meetings to discuss the design of a wholesale prescription drug importation program. These meetings are one component of the stakeholder engagement process outlined in the Department’s provisionally adopted rule to implement P.L. 2019, ch. 472, An Act to Increase Access to Low-cost Prescription Drugs.

During the meetings, the Department will present information about key questions relevant to program design, and provide an opportunity for structured feedback about major decision points. Topics of discussion will include:

  • What infrastructure is needed for the importation of drugs under the program
  • How consumers will access imported drugs
  • Which drugs will be included in the program
  • How to meet monitoring, evaluation, and regulatory requirements

Meetings will be held in the Maine A&B conference room at the DHHS office building at 109 Capitol Street in Augusta at the following times:

  • Tuesday, February 4th – 2:00-4:30
  • Tuesday, February 18th – 1:00-3:30
  • Monday, March 2nd – 12:00-2:30
  • Monday, March 16th – 1:00-3:30

Meetings are open to the public, but to assist with preparation and facilitation, they ask participants to register here:
Registered participants will also receive conference line information for all meetings, in case they are unable to join in person.
