Linda Lindberg of Winchester serves as a dedicated volunteer for the AARP Virginia Virtual Volunteer Newsroom and the Northern Virginia Community Outreach Team. Within the newsroom team, she plays a crucial role using her writing skills to tell the AARP story. In 2023, Lindberg's exceptional dedication saw her penning more articles than any other team member, covering a spectrum of topics ranging from local events to broader societal issues. Her commitment extends beyond geographical boundaries, as she willingly reports on virtual events across Virginia.

Her diverse portfolio includes articles addressing subjects as varied as the presence of Nazis in northern Virginia, the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community in long-term care, Scam Jams, Parkinson’s Disease, and even a historical exploration of Beer, Wine and Distilled Spirits in the Commonwealth.

“As a fellow member of the virtual newsroom, I humbly acknowledge Linda's remarkable contributions, as one who authored less than a quarter of the articles she produced,” said AARP Virginia State President Joyce Williams while presenting Lindberg the award. “Her unwavering dedication to portraying the AARP Virginia story makes her most deserving of the President’s Award.”

The President’s Awards for Community Service are given to deserving individuals or groups chosen at the discretion of AARP Virginia State President Joyce Williams, of Roanoke, to recognize the significant contributions they have made to the work of AARP Virginia over the last year.
