Learn to Ride L.A. Metro With Greater Confidence

Posted on 04/30/18 by TheAARPBulletin, AARP Blog Author

AARP is working to make Los Angeles more age-friendly by helping transit riders navigate with confidence.

Members and their guests will have special access to L.A. Metro’s On the Move Riders Program, which aims to teach older adults the basics of public transportation. The classes will be led by expert riders and will give members the opportunity to connect with Travel Buddies, volunteers who are familiar with public rail and bus transit throughout L.A. County.

Maintaining mobility is important to many AARP members who can no longer drive or who face other travel constraints. AARP advocates for everyone to have accessible transportation options, regardless of age or abilities.

Classes will be held:

Saturday, May 19—Westside Central Region, Expo Line, La Cienega/Jefferson Station, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday, June 2—San Gabriel Valley Region, Silver Line, El Monte Station, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday, June 2—Gateway Cities Region, Green Line, Norwalk Station, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday, June 9—South Bay Region, Silver Line, Harbor Gateway Transit Center, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday, June 9—San Fernando Valley Region, Red Line, North Hollywood Station, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
