The average victim of elder financial abuse loses upwards of $120,000. Recognizing financial abuse as the most common type of elder abuse, and accepting responsibility as a first-line defense, Maryland nonprofit financial counseling agency CCCSMD and AARP Maryland are leading a statewide outreach campaign in partnership with Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh, Comptroller Peter Franchot, the Maryland Department of Aging, the Maryland Department of Human Services and a coalition of state agencies and community partners to “Protect Older Americans from Financial Exploitation."

During PROTECT Week, June 13-17, 2022, Marylanders across the State will have an opportunity to learn about the many forms of abuse, neglect and financial exploitation of older adults.

Read about PROTECT Week in the May 2022 issue of the AARP Bulletin. Learn more about PROTECT Week partners at ProtectWeek.org.

Attendees will then learn to use that understanding of trauma to inform their work with older adults when preventing and intervening in cases of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. This webinar will offer 1.5 Category 1 Social Work CEUs. Register online now.
