Learn How to Spot and Avoid Scams

Posted on 06/30/23 by The AARP Bulletin

AARP Iowa has trained Fraud Watch Network volunteers ready to educate Iowans on how to spot and avoid the latest scams.

Last year, consumers in Iowa reported losing $29.9 million to fraud, Federal Trade Commission data shows. Impostor scams and identity theft were the most common types of fraud, according to the FTC.

AARP’s Fraud Watch speakers can give in-person or virtual talks to local groups such as community organizations, senior centers and houses of worship. To schedule a fraud prevention presentation or to learn how to become a fraud educator, contact AARP Iowa at 515-697-1000 or ia@aarp.org.
