Virgin Islands is bringing together older adults, caregivers and others for a workshop on ways to detect and prevent elder abuse.

The session will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, on both St. Thomas, at the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, and St. Croix, at the University of the Virgin Islands’ Great Hall. (Speakers from one location will be broadcast to the other.)

The event will feature speakers from the U.S. Department of Justice. The closing speaker will be former elder abuse prosecutor Paul Greenwood, a retired deputy district attorney in San Diego and a speaker for AARP programs.

Studies have found that at least 1 in 10 adults 60 and older have experienced some form of elder abuse. Click here to register.
