Posted on 04/30/21 by The AARP Bulletin

Find out how to make your home a safer and more comfortable place to live as you age with two free virtual classes.

AARP in St. Louis will team up with licensed occupational therapists to discuss home modifications you or a loved one can make to meet your needs. This one-hour class will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23.

The presentation will offers how-to tips from AARP’s free HomeFit Guide, which features age-in-place improvements, such as entrance ramps and bathroom grab bars.

“This presentation can help individuals and families make their current or future residence—or that of a loved one—their lifelong home,” said Sheila Holm, community outreach director for AARP in St. Louis.

The first 100 members to sign up and attend will receive a free My Home Kit, containing a night-light, a jar opener, a flashlight and a tape measure with a level.

Participants must register by June 18 for the June 23 session. Click on the date to register.

Download the AARP HomeFit Guide or order one by mail at aarp.org/homefit. The guide includes a room-by-room checklist that can be used in any type of dwelling, from a small apartment to a large house.
