Las Cruces AARP Community Events -- July, August, September
July 6 – Farmer’s Market Information Table: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Come by the booth to learn about what AARP is doing locally and pick up information on a variety of resources.
July 13th -- Adopt-A-Spot: Join the Chapter in this community project to cleanup Las Cruces. Volunteers will pick up litter and other odd jobs to create a clean beautiful environment at Bataan East and Rinconada Boulevard. Participants meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Big O Tires on Sonoma Ranch. Trash bags and safety vests are provided.

AARP Movie for Grownups – POMS: Date to be announced soon. POMS is an uplifting comedy about Martha (played by Diane Keaton), a woman who moves into a retirement community and starts a cheerleading squad with her fellow residents, Sheryl (Jacki Weaver), Olive (Pam Grier) and Alice (Rhea Perlman), proving that it's never too late to follow your dreams.
Aug. 15th -- Natural Grocers 64th Anniversary Celebration: Chapter members will host an information table.
Aug. 17th -- AARP Rally to Lower Prescription Prices, at the Plaza on Main Street, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Join in the campaign to convince federal and state lawmakers to curb out-of-sight prescription drug prices. AARP’s “Stop RX Greed” campaign seeks solutions to runaway drug costs. Join AARP and urge Congress to act now to stop price gouging, increase affordability, close loopholes and support transparency.
Sept. 18 – Monthly Chapter Meetings Resume: This is the Chapter’s “welcome back” meeting after the summer break. There will be an indoor picnic potluck and games. The Chapter will provithe meat, drinks and cutlery. Please bring a side dish, bread or dessert. The meetings are held from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., every third Wednesday, at Senior Amigos, 4311 E. Lohman Ave.

Refresh your driving skills with the AARP Driver Safety Course. Learn defensive driving techniques, proven safety strategies, new traffic laws and rules of the road. No tests to pass! Upon completion you will receive a multi-year discount on your auto insurance premium. Classes are scheduled at the following locations:
