Join AARP New York for Free screening of “Decade of Fire”
AARPNY and Red Nut Films is proud to host a free screening of "Decade of Fire" - a documentary about burning buildings of the South Bronx in the 1970’s when nearly half a million people were displaced as their community was burnt to the ground. While insidious government policies caused the devastation, Blacks and Puerto Rican residents bore the blame.
You will hear from Vivian Vazquez-Irizarry, Bronx-born as she exposes the truth about the borough’s untold story and reveals how her community chose to resist, remain, and rebuild, offering hope to communities on the brink today.
AARP members and guests can join us for a viewing of the film followed by a talkback session with the Director, Producer, and Main Characters of the film.
