Visit our booth at the Rose Garden Hub and learn about our programs, activities, and efforts to protect social security. We’ll have games, giveaways (while supplies last), a photo booth to celebrate Grandparents Day, and other fun activities for the whole family! Learn more HERE.

Day of Service: San Jose Mural Cleanup (September 11 @ 10 a.m. PT | San Jose) 
Join us for AARP’s National Day of Service, an organizational initiative where staff and volunteers throughout the country commemorate those lost and the benevolence of those who helped on 9-11 by engaging in volunteer projects on September 11. Volunteer to help preserve and make improvements to the area surrounding Edgar Ochoa’s Sharks Community Mural on the Latino Business Foundation building. Activities will include litter pickup, graffiti removal (facilitated by Local Color’s contracted artist), curb painting, and surface cleaning. This effort will enhance the beauty of San Jose’s public art and help foster a vibrant and safe space for all. Lunch with be provided. Learn more and register HERE. Day of Service: MLK Jr. Shoreline Native Plant Nursery (September 11 @ 10 a.m. PT | Oakland)
Join us for AARP’s National Day of Service, an organizational initiative where staff and volunteers throughout the country commemorate those lost and the benevolence of those who helped on 9-11 by engaging in volunteer projects on September 11. Volunteer to work in Save the Bay’s Native Plant Nursery where tasks can include anything from seed cleaning to transplanting. Save the Bay’s Native Plant Nursery at the Martin Luther King Regional Shoreline grows up to 20,000 plants per year that will eventually be planted out to one of their several restoration sites along the shoreline of the Bay. Scams and Shams Webinar (September 18 @ 12 p.m. PT| Virtual)
Join us for a conversation with Jason Collom, a fraud-prevention specialist who recently retired from the San Francisco District Attorney’s office, about two of the most prevalent scams today. Learn how the scams work, how to protect yourself and what to do if you need to get help. Learn more and register HERE.

Senior Safari: Enjoy a Day at Happy Hollow Park & Zoo (September 26 @ 9 a.m. PT | San Jose) 
Join us at Happy Hollow Park & Zoo’s Senior Safari series and enjoy a day at the zoo. This program is designed to help older adults improve their health, avoid social isolation, and enjoy a unique environment that stimulates both mind and body. Senior Safari admission and parking are free for those ages 50-plus that arrive before 10 a.m. PT (the park opens to seniors at 9 a.m. PT), and guests are welcome to stay for the day after gates open to the public.
