The AARP San Jose Office is here locally offering events, local resources, and more throughout the Bay Area. Join us for virtual and in-person events!

Let’s Take it Outside: San Francisco Crosstown Trail Hike (June 7 at 10 a.m. PT | San Francisco)
Join AARP California for a guided 4-mile walk through San Francisco Crosstown Trail that features hidden trails, public parks, shopping corridors, tiled stairways, and community gardens along the way. We will meet at Mission Blue in Visitacion Valley, a delightful coffeehouse and gallery featuring work by local artists and artisans. The location is convenient to several transit lines and street parking. From there, we head up the Visitacion Valley Greenway, a string of community parks and gardens. We will also visit expansive McLaren Park and the Portola and St. Mary’s Park neighborhoods, dotted with urban greenways and intriguing public art installations. We finish at the Glen Park BART station at Bosworth & Diamond, near several lunch choices in Glen Park Village. Learn more and register HERE. This in-person event is free and open to the public. Intro to Hosting on Zoom (June 13 at 9 a.m. PT | Zoom)
Join us for a FREE, interactive, online tech class designed for learning, self-improvement, and fun. During this introductory lecture, Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) from AARP we will discuss how to set-up a Zoom meeting, best practices when hosting a Zoom meeting, and more. Fraud Prevention Webinar with Sarita (June 14 at Noon | Zoom)
Join AARP volunteer Sarita Cardozo for a conversation on how to spot and avoid scams like identity theft, holiday scams, and more. The presentation will also cover resources available through AARP’s Fraud Watch Network and how you can report and stop scams. Learn more and register HERE. Free Community Shred & Electronic Waste Event (June 15 at 9 a.m. PT | Saratoga)
Join AARP Fraud Watch Network, AARP California, County of Santa Clara Adult Protective Services Financial Abuse Specialist Team (F.A.S.T), and Saratoga Area Senior Center for a FREE drive-through shred event as we work together to combat fraud and identity theft in our community. We will also have staff and volunteers on-site sharing information on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2024 and how you can protect yourself and loved ones from frauds and scams. Additionally, an electronic waste (e-waste) truck hosted by the County of Santa Clara Adult Protective Services will be on site. Learn more and register HERE. Let’s Take it Outside: Happy Hollow Park & Zoo – Animals and Programs (June 19 at Noon | Zoom)
Did you know Happy Hollow Park & Zoo offers animal exhibits, habitat maintenance, beekeeping workshops, conservation programs, and free entrance for older adults through their Senior Safari program? Join us virtually to hear from the dedicated staff at Happy Hollow Zoo Park & Zoo as they share more about Senior Safari, the animals at the Zoo, and how animal conservation lies at the heart of all their programs, exhibits, activities, and operations. Saving Money with Tech (June 20 @ 9 a.m. PT | Zoom)
Join us for a FREE, interactive, online tech class designed for learning, self-improvement, and fun. During this introductory lecture, Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) from AARP as we go over online banking, how to keep your information safe, and tricks to save money while shopping online. Senior Safari: Enjoy a Day at Happy Hollow Park & Zoo (June 27 @ 9 a.m. PT | San Jose) 
Join us at Happy Hollow Park & Zoo’s Senior Safari series and enjoy a day at the zoo. This program is designed to help older adults improve their health, avoid social isolation, and enjoy a unique environment that stimulates both mind and body. Senior Safari admission and parking are free for those ages 50-plus that arrive before 10 a.m. PT (the park opens to seniors at 9 a.m. PT), and guests are welcome to stay for the day after gates open to the public.
