Each day thousands of Marylanders receive fraudulent robocalls from identity thieves pretending to represent the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Social Security Administration (SSA) and other goverment agencies, in an attempt to steal personal information or coerce the victim to make cash or giftcard payments to avoid arrest over an "irregularity with their account."

These government imposter scams are on the rise. In fact they are the number one type of fraud reported to the Federal Trade Commission and the Social Security Administration.
