Improving Nursing Home Conditions a Top AARP Iowa Legislative Priority

Posted on 12/31/21 by The AARP Bulletin

AARP Iowa will be advocating on issues important to older adults when the state Legislature reconvenes in Des Moines on Monday, Jan. 10.

Priorities include urging lawmakers to expand access to home- and community-based services and to improve conditions in nursing homes by using federal American Rescue Plan funds.

AARP is also supporting legislation that would address Iowa’s long-term-care workforce crisis and another bill that would make it a crime to assault, financially exploit or otherwise abuse Iowans 60 or older.
