A new squad of fraud fighters is challenging con artists across the state. AARP Montana, in an initiative with the state attorney general’s office, has trained six volunteer outreach specialists to conduct presentations on avoiding the latest swindles.

Organizations in Great Falls, Helena, Billings and Butte can request the free presentations through Montana’s consumer protection website, dojmt.gov/consumer/ocp-outreach; by emailing mtaarp@aarp.org; or by calling Nancy Andersen at 406-457-4703.

The awareness efforts build on the state’s gains over recent years, during which AARP Montana partnered with CBS TV stations to run consumer-oriented segments about avoiding scams.
