Help Advocate for Policies to Support Older Kentuckians

Posted on 01/01/25 by The AARP Bulletin

AARP is seeking volunteers to help advocate on behalf of older Kentuckians during the legislative session.

AARP Kentucky’s legislative priorities for 2025 include equitable housing, support for family caregivers, long-term care services, retirement security and tax fairness. Its team of legislative volunteers plays an important role in AARP’s advocacy efforts — including meeting with lawmakers in their district offices, speaking with the media and testifying before committees.

Volunteers will attend AARP Kentucky’s Lobby Day in the Capitol on Thursday, Feb. 20. No prior experience is necessary to become a volunteer. AARP Kentucky provides training. It will also host sessions for volunteers before Lobby Day to talk about priority legislation and offer tips on how to effectively share personal stories with lawmakers.

For details, go to https://events.aarp.org/KYLobbyDay2025 or email kyaarp@aarp.org.
