AARP and the Houston Texans YMCA have partnered to help Active Older Adults reap the benefits of healthy eating at home. “Fit and Fine on a Dime” cooking sessions are designed to help you prepare nutritious meals on a budget. The four classes are designed to teach you how to prepare wholesome meals, do weekly food preps, and master the do’s and don’ts of healthy food preparation.

Join Chef Keisha Griggs, owner of Bocage Catering, as she shares her passion for cooking. Griggs, a long-time chef, caterer, and graduate of the Art Institute Culinary Arts program, pursued her dream to craft sustainable, healthy meals from local food sources. Her lifelong love of cooking came from her early years in Trinidad, making memories around great food.

The classes will be held on at the Houston Texans YMCA, 5202 Griggs Rd. from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following Tuesdays:

  • August 27
  • September 10
  • September 17
  • September 24 – This class will include a field trip to a local community garden

There is no cost for this event, and you can sign up for any one of the sessions by clicking here or by calling 1-877-926-8300.
