Grants Help Improve Community Spaces in Missouri

Posted on 09/07/21 by The AARP Bulletin

Four groups in Missouri received 2021 Community Challenge grants from AARP for projects to make their areas more livable.

In greater St. Louis, Citizens for Modern Transit has launched a project at the Emerson Park Transit Center in East St. Louis, Illinois, to improve the light rail and bus station by adding canopies, artwork, lighting, a new mural and seating.

In Springfield, the historic district will get new street furniture, parklets and a mural.

In Columbia, the PedNet Coalition will demonstrate how to make streets and sidewalks safer for cyclists and walkers at temporary pop-up locations.

And in Kansas City, Major Murray Davis Park, at 40th and Main streets, will get a makeover based on community input.
