As COVID-19 vaccines continue to roll out, caregivers who can’t find them may find themselves in stressful conditions, which can negatively affect their mental and physical well-being.

That’s why AARP in Houston will host a free virtual event via Zoom, Soothing Away Anxiety, on Monday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to noon, which will also be the focus of a podcast being released April 26. The talk is part of its ongoing Mindful Mondays series, presented by AARP and Caregiver Wellness Retreat, a nonprofit helping caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Alberto Almeida, M.D., will discuss how to develop coping mechanisms to ease anxiety while facing the challenges of caring for loved ones during the pandemic, as well as ways to stay physically healthy, such as creating the right diet, and other issues.

Registration is required for the event. Find details and sign up at aarp.org/houston, or send an email to houston@aarp.org.

For more Mindful Mondays and other podcasts, go to aarp.org/houstonptc, websites such as SoundCloud.com or Apple’s podcast app. They’re also available in Spanish at aarp.org/sabesque.

Topics include healthy eating, tai chi, caregiving for veterans, fraud prevention and more.
