Yoga instructor Rebecca Fritz has a favorite mantra: “A long muscle is a strong muscle.” Folks who take her classes hear that a lot.

What Fritz means is that keeping your muscles stretched and limber is an effective strength-building exercise, and it’s good for your health.

From now through December, she will offer a free online yoga class, from 9 to 10 a.m., on the second Saturday of every month. The next sessions are June 12 and July 10.

Rebecca and Matt Fritz have owned and operated Sutra Studios in Phoenix for 12 years.

The series is sponsored by AARP Arizona and FitPHX, the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department’s community-based health initiative.

The yoga classes are designed for people of all ages and experience levels.

“The majority of the class is sitting down,” said Rebecca Fritz, in case anyone has mobility issues or worries the course might be too strenuous.

So, jump-start your Saturday mornings and get limber by registering at aarp.cvent.com/d/0jq8j7. You will be sent a Zoom link for the class. If you miss a session, check out the Sutra Studios YouTube page.
