Get Inspired by Iowa's Talented 'Hidden Gems'

Posted on 02/28/21 by The AARP Bulletin

AARP is producing a series of features about older Iowans who have created something innovative or have a special talent or skill.

The first two profiles, featuring Dennis Naughton, 74, a ventriloquist from Marion, and Donna Hay, 91, an artist from Mitchellville who began painting at age 88, are available for viewing now at aarp.org/ia. The March feature will be about blues musician Kevin Burt, 52, of Coralville.

The stories about the state’s “Hidden Gems” will be written by former Des Moines Register editor Diane Graham, with videos produced by videographer Dylan Huey. Nominate an older Iowan to be profiled at aarp.org /ia.

This story is provided by AARP Iowa. Visit the AARP Iowa page for more news, events, and programs affecting retirement, health care, and more.
