The Colorado Division of Housing wants you to know about the Home Modification Tax Credit opportunity that provides individuals with a state income tax credit of up to $5,000 to enable greater accessibility and independence in the home.
You can get help with the following accessibility adaptations:

  • Entrances
  • Bathrooms
  • Kitchens
  • Other areas of the home

Coloradans who have or will be retrofitting their primary residence can qualify for the tax credit if they or a spouse/dependent:

  • Has the work completed in the years 2019 through 2028,
  • Are a state-income taxpayer,
  • Meet the household income limits,
  • Have a disability, illness, or impairment, and
  • Have a professional verification of the accessibility need.

Take the prequalification survey if you think you are eligible to apply for the Home Modification Tax Credit.

Anyone interested in learning more about the Home Modification Tax Credit program qualifications and process or has questions can contact the program at dola_homemodtaxcredit@state.co.us, 720-527-0836, or visit our website.
