Georgia Caregivers Act: What It Means

The Georgia Caregivers Act took effect July 1, 2022. The new law helps family caregivers when their loved ones go into the hospital and as they transition home. It ensures that hospitals:

♥ IDENTIFY the name of a family caregiver when their loved one is admitted into the hospital
♥ NOTIFY the family caregiver when their loved one is to be discharged
♥ INSTRUCT the family caregiver on the medical tasks to be performed at home, such as medication management, injections, wound care and transfers

AARP Georgia went to work at the Gold Dome to make the Caregivers Act a reality because supporting caregivers is a top priority for all of us.
