Arizona's Governor and legislative leaders are negotiating now what to fund in the state budget. Click here to urge Governor Ducey and your State Legislator to fund SB1172 Family Caregivers!

Every day in Arizona a silent army of more than 800,000 family caregivers goes to work caring for their loved ones. As many Arizona familes know, caregiving is more than a full-time job and costs the caregiver money also. AARP supports funding in the state budget for Senate Bill 1172 which would allow some reimbursement of caregivers' out of pocket expenses.  The reimbursement would allow coverage of expenses like building a wheelchair ramp, a walk-in shower, grab bars, or putting a lift on a van.

SB 1172 has already passed out of the State Senate 28-2. Governor Ducey and Legislative Leaders are negotiating what to fund in the state budget.  Your State Legislator is one of the legislative leaders in the negotiations.

Around the clock caregiving can take a heavy toll physically, mentally, and financially. Reducing financial stress can help families keep loved ones in their homes as they age - where they want to be.

That's why AARP is supporting funding for the Family Caregivers bill in the state budget.

Arizona families are strong and take care of their own. Caregiving is a tough and beautiful journey that deserves all of our support.

Sincerely,

Dana Kennedy
