About Doug Shadel
Doug Shadel is a leading expert on how to detect and prevent financial exploitation, having co-authored a number of books and studies on the topic. He wrote a column for AARP the Magazine for five years entitled "Outsmart Fraud". Doug previously served as the Strategy Director for AARP's Fraud Watch Network and for almost 20 years, as State Director for AARP Washington. Prior to that, he was a special assistant attorney general and investigator in the Washington State Attorney General's office. Shadel has also testified as an expert witness for the US Department of Justice. He currently serves as managing director for Fraud Prevention Strategies, LLC, a Seattle-based consulting firm.
