Free online offerings you may enjoy
Are you looking for free ways to stay busy at home? We are too. Do you like to learn about other cultures, sing along to your favorite show tunes and virtually visit museums and other interesting places? So do we! Our staff and volunteers have found some free online offerings that you might want to check out.
Are you a film buff? The Gold Coast International Film Festival is offering free viewings on Sundays of short films from their past festivals.
Into architecture? You could take a virtual tour of buildings designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, thanks to the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy, Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and Unity Temple Restoration Foundation.
Love art? The Perez Art Museum Miami is offering a digital in-gallery art tour with local artists the fourth Thursday of each month.
Are you a gardener? Check out the virtual tours from the United States Botanic Garden in Washington, DC (pictured at right).
Or perhaps one of these may be for you:
- If you are a Broadway Musical aficionado, watch videos on the Broadway Sings for Pride site, including the Hair original cast!
- The Hammer Museum in Los Angeles offers numerous online opportunities, including a meditation session every Thursday.
- The New York Historical Society Museum and Library is offering virtual tours, where you can explore their archives and learn about WWI and NYC or watch an interview with historian Annette Gordon-Reed about Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings.
- You could also check out free content from the Museum of Jewish Heritage, including the life story of Holocaust survivor Maritza Shelley.
- And if coloring is relaxing, here are two pages from AARP that you can download: "Just Be" and "Mandala."
