Federal and State Tax Deadline Extended

Posted on 03/25/20

The tax deadline for federal or state taxes has been extended for 90 days to July 15 for federal taxes and July 20 for state taxes.

But if you are expecting a refund, it’s to your advantage to complete your taxes and file early to get your money.

The AARP Foundation Tax Aide program remains suspended, but the foundation and community partners continue to monitor coronavirus developments to determine whether the program can open again in some or all sites before the July 15 tax deadline or if alternative tax preparation services can be offered.

In the meantime, taxpayers can visit IRS's free tax filing service at https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free. Taxpayers can check the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide web page for updates at aarpfoundation.org/taxaide.
