No matter where you are in your caregiving journey — starting to plan; taking care of a family member in your home, in a facility, or from a distance; or managing end-of-life caregiving responsibilities — having resources at your fingertips will make the process easier.

AARP developed this family caregiver guide with you, the caregiver, in mind and as a starting point to help you find the services and support you might need throughout your journey.

Caregiver Resource Centers Network (800-233-9074)
Locations throughout Delaware serve as access points for information on a variety of caregiving topics. The network includes Easterseals senior centers statewide.

Provides free education on money matters, tax help and legal assistance with estate planning.

Delaware State Treasurer’s Office
Provides free education on money matters, tax help and legal assistance with estate planning.

Stand By Me (800-560-3372)
This partnership between the state of Delaware and the United Way offers free one-on-one support to help Delawareans understand more about their money and make good financial decisions. Residents 50 and older can receive financial coaching, access to benefits, workshops and retirement planning.

    Legal

    Delaware Community Legal Aid Society (New Castle County: 302-575-0660; Kent County: 302-674-8500; Sussex County: 302-856-0038)
    Provides free legal services to citizens 60 and older, people with disabilities, people living in poverty and more.

    Delaware Department of Labor
    Provides resources on employment, training, labor market information, unemployment and more.

    Health

    Provides information on COVID-19, free health care clinics, health training and education, community health information, air and water quality, emergency preparedness and more.

    Food Bank of Delaware
    Provides senior nutrition programs, mobile pantries, meal boxes and more.

    Provides a tool that helps locate service providers statewide, including adult day centers, fall prevention programs and much more.

    Offers rental and mortgage assistance and help with a variety of housing issues.
