Falls Prevention and Living Safely at Home

Posted on 11/10/20

The Parkinson’s Foundation in partnership with AARP, is launching our 2nd free webinar in this partnership series. The topic is Falls Prevention and Living Safely at Home, scheduled for Thursday, November 19, 12:00-1:00 pm CT.

As people age, staying safe in one’s home becomes more and more important, whether you have Parkinson’s disease (PD) or not. One-third of people over 65 have a fall each year and the risk of falling increases as people age. People with PD experience an additional set of unique challenges particularly as Parkinson’s symptoms change over time.

We are excited to have Rose Wichmann, PT, Director of Parkinson’s Programs, Struthers Parkinson’s Center, and Danielle Arigoni, Director of Livable Communities, AARP presenting. During this webinar, we will hear about some of the best ways to manage and prevent falls in one’s home and learn about AARP’s recently-revised HomeFit Guide to make one’s home safer, smarter and a better fit for all.

This is a highly relevant and very important topic for so many in both of our respective communities. Please feel free to share far and wide with your community, members, and colleagues.
