In a region known for its freeways and car culture, AARP California will be helping 50-plus Angelenos stay mobile at Metro’s third annual Older Adult Transportation Expo.
The free event, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, offers attendees a chance to learn about mass transit, ride-booking services and other aspects of L.A.’s transportation system. AARP California will sponsor a luncheon and presentation on the association’s Driver Safety program.
“Maintaining mobility is important to many AARP members who can no longer drive or who want to explore transportation choices that best fit their needs,” said Nancy McPherson, AARP California state director.
“Older adults need transportation to support their independence through a system that makes it easier to get around the region, which is vital for everyone, regardless of their age and ability,” she said.
As part of its Driver Safety presentation, AARP California will provide information on CarFit, which offers older adults the opportunity to check that settings for things like seats, mirrors and steering wheels are correct.
The expo will take place at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels Conference Center, 555 W. Temple St., Los Angeles. More information is available at aarp.org/LosAngeles.
