Examining Alaska's State Budget Crisis

Posted on 09/30/21 by The AARP Bulletin

AARP Alaska recently conducted a telephone survey to gauge AARP members’ knowledge, attitudes and support for potential solutions to the state’s budget crisis.

The survey assessed support for five possible solutions: budget cuts, a statewide sales tax, a statewide income tax, increasing oil and gas taxes and capping Alaska’s Permanent Fund.

AARP found that members support broad-based revenue measures and oppose additional operating-budget cuts. Read the key findings at aarp.org/ak.
