“AARP Texas’ priority with the coronavirus vaccine is keeping you and your families safe,” ASD of Outreach and Advocacy Rosalinda Martinez said. “Through partners like the Houston Astros and Houston Methodist, AARP Texas can help you get all the information you need to know about its safety and efficacy, so you can choose what is best for you and your family.”

The bilingual virtual town hall will feature Houston Astros legend, former coach and player Jose “Cheo” Cruz, Astros play-by-play broadcaster Francisco Romero, and Houston Methodist Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Victor Fainstein. Each will discuss the facts and myths surrounding the vaccine while also highlighting significant updates. They will also discuss vaccine availability and effectiveness.

“The Houston Astros are thrilled to partner with AARP Texas to enrich the Houston community,” Senior Vice President of Revenue, Matt Brand, said. “We look forward to a long and prosperous partnership together.”

According to Houston Methodist’s website, as of May 16, Houston Methodist has provided 732,872 vaccines. Individuals who are 12 and older are eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine in Texas.

Houston Methodist is currently administering the Pfizer vaccine. Townhall participants will be able to sign up to join the Houston Methodist vaccination waitlist. Walk-ins are also available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
