Enjoy free movies at the Library Center

The Library Center is the headquarters of the Springfield-Greene County Library District and AARP in Springfield has joined with them to offer free movie nights every other month in 2020. Grab your friends and family and come out and enjoy a movie and some light refreshments on us. Links to register for the October and December movies will be available soon.

February 18th - Breakfast at Tiffany's (not rated) This 1961 classic film stars Audrey Hepburn as the iconic Holly Golightly. Based on the book by Truman Capote, this film will bring back memories of the 60s and some familiar faces. George Peppard as the man of "2E", Patricia Neal as a rich decorator, Buddy Ebsen as Doc Golightly - Holly's former husband and Mickey Rooney as Holly’s angry upstairs neighbor and landlord. April 21st - The Bucket List (rated PG-13) When a billionaire and car mechanic are assigned the same hospital room, they think they have nothing in common. Then they discover they both want to come to terms with who they are and what they have done with their lives and they both have a list of things they want to do before they die. Against their doctor's advice, they take off on an adventure of a lifetime. Register now 

June 15th - Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (rated TV-MA) Based on the nonfiction book by Rebecca Skloot's the story is told through the eyes of Henrietta Lacks' daughter, Deborah Lacks. The film follows Deborah’s search for her mother Henrietta, and the discovery of how the unauthorized harvesting of Henrietta’s cancerous cells in 1951 led to numerous medical breakthroughs, changing countless lives and the face of medicine forever. August 18th - On Golden Pond (rated PG) The retired Thayers (Katharine Hepburn and Henry Fonda) spend summers at their vacation home on the shores of beautiful Golden Pond. Their adult daughter, Chelsea (Jane Fonda), visits with her new fiancée and his teenage son, Billy. They head to Europe, leaving Billy behind to bond with Norman. When Chelsea returns, she tries to repair the long-strained relationship with her aging father before it's too late. Register now

The Library Center is located at 4653 S Campbell Ave in Springfield, Missouri. All movies begin at 6:30 pm.
