Ending Age Discrimination in Driver’s License Examinations

Posted on 04/10/24 by Ana Leal

Did you know Illinois is the ONLY state that requires older adults to take an extra test for their license? This law in Illinois applies to all drivers over 75, even though research shows that this age group has the fewest crashes and are among the safest drivers on our roadways.

AARP Illinois believes that is blatant age discrimination, and feeds an unfounded perception that older drivers are dangerous. The right to drive should be based on ability, not age.

That's why it's crucial to support House Bill 4431, which would end this discriminatory practice. Tell your legislator to vote YES on House Bill 4431 and stand against age discrimination in driver's license examinations. Let's ensure fairness and equality for all drivers on Illinois roads.
