Empower Yourself: Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults

As we approach Grandparents Day on September 8, it's a perfect time to focus on the well-being of older adults in our lives. To support this important cause, AARP Long Island invites you to a free Mental Health First Aid workshop on September 18, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM at the Copiague Memorial Public Library.

Event Highlights:

  • Training and Certification: Learn to recognize and assist older adults experiencing mental health or substance use challenges. Choose to get certified or simply audit the session.
  • Expert Guidance: The workshop is led by Family & Children's Association, offering an evidence-based approach to mental health.
  • Lunch Included: Enjoy a meal while you gain valuable skills.

  • Certification Requirements: For a 3-year certification, complete online pre-course work (10-15 mins), attend the full session, and complete post-course work (15-20 mins). If you prefer not to get certified, a certificate of attendance is available.
