Embrace Diversity at St. Louis PrideFest
Hundreds of thousands are expected to gather the weekend of June 29-30 to celebrate the LGBTQ community at the annual St. Louis PrideFest.
AARP in St. Louis will show its support with a parade float and a booth, sharing information on the organization’s efforts to combat high prescription drug costs.
A national AARP campaign—Stop Rx Greed—is urging Congress to prevent price gouging by pharmaceutical companies.
“With older adults having the highest average number of prescriptions, AARP is calling for policy solutions that will lower the cost of drugs versus shifting the costs within the health care system,” said Sheila Holm, community outreach director for AARP in St. Louis.
PrideFest, which celebrates the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community, will include more than 160 vendors and a parade. Show your membership card at the AARP booth to receive a gift.
The event will be held at Soldiers Memorial Park, on Market Street between 15th Street and Tucker Boulevard. It runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday.
