Drumming for Caregivers

Posted on 04/01/21 by Rachel Fautz

AARP Kentucky’s Louisville Community Team will sponsor an 8-part virtual drumming series with the University of Louisville Trager Institute and the VA. Drumming has been used for many years to facilitate improvement in physical and mental health. Research supports positive outcomes when people engage in musical encounters including drumming.

Join in on the Virtual Community Drumming Experience (Tuesdays in May & June) where you will not only have fun but will also have the opportunity to socialize, exercise, and nurture yourself and others. This drumming series does not require you to be musically skilled but uses the drum for communication and expression.

You must register to participate*. While we understand that it may be hard to attend all 8 sessions, we do ask that you commit to attending at least 6. Once you register, you will be sent a percussion instrument to use during the sessions. After the program ends, the instrument is yours to keep!
