Crypto ATMS: In the Headlines Across Wisconsin

Posted on 09/18/25

Fraudulent activity involving cryptocurrency kiosks is on the rise. Cryptocurrency ATMs, also known as “crypto kiosks” or BTMs, can be found in supermarkets, convenience stores, gas stations, bars, and restaurants. Crypto ATMs look like bank ATMs and allow people to conduct cryptocurrency transactions, such as sending money to digital wallets. However, they lack sufficient consumer fraud protections. As a result, crypto kiosks are being utilized to facilitate fraud.

As more scammers use these machines to steal money from Wisconsinites, more news outlets are looking to raise awareness and share stories from victims.
