Creating Better Places with Crowdgranting

Posted on 11/30/19 by The AARP Bulletin

Across the state, Vermonters are revitalizing their downtowns and neighborhoods. In an effort to explore more collaborative funding for these projects, AARP Vermont and community partners developed the Better Places: Place-Based Crowdgranting Program.

The partners showcased their efforts recently at three statewide workshops. Representatives from 85 localities learned how to spark community renewal through DIY efforts, such as public gardens and parklets.

In 2020, AARP Vermont is planning “crowdgranting,” which combines community member donations with matching funds from state and other sponsors.

Want to learn more? Attend a workshop? Request a “recipe book” of project ideas by emailing kstoddardpoor@aarp.org or by calling 802-951-1313. Stay apprised at aarp.org/vt.
