Livability Solutions Forums

Age-friendly living AARP Oregon is partnering with local leaders and urging them to think in new ways to create safe and livable age-friendly communities.

Toward that goal, urban planner Gil Penalosa, an AARP consultant and livable communities expert, will visit Portland, Springfield and Medford in early November. He’ll meet with officials, builders, community leaders and the public to encourage age-friendly designs in projects such as sidewalks and parks.

In southern Oregon, he’ll encourage those rebuilding from a major 2020 wildfire to consider lifelong housing and fire-resilient parks and infrastructure.
