Community Listening Sessions: Help Massachusetts Refresh the Age and Dementia-Friendly Action Plan

Posted on 07/21/24 by Ted Carey, Adrian Ramos

In 2018, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts was among the first states in the nation to join AARP’s Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities. As part of the designation, the commonwealth submitted an action plan in 2019. The plan, ReiMAgine Aging, commits the state, in collaboration with partner organizations, to make Massachusetts more livable and welcoming for people of all ages.
Check out the original plan by clicking here.

Now, it’s time to update and refresh this plan that will guide the state's age- and dementia-friendly actions for the next 5-10 years. The Commonwealth needs your help with this refresh. The state is looking into how priorities have shifted over the past five years and identify significant actions or policies that need to be tweaked. You can can help by completing an online survey.

Earlier this summer, the Executive Office of Elder Affairs hosted listening sessions statewide to gather feedback on community priorities and new opportunities for supporting positive aging. AARP Massachusetts helped provide support for the sessions.
